Union University seeks a qualified individual for the position of Faculty in Commercial Music: Recording Engineering and Music Technology beginning Fall 2021. Rank assignment commensurate with education and experience.

Position Description:
Responsibilities include teaching concepts related to Recording Engineering, Mixing, Pre and Post-Production principles and techniques, studio management, use of industry-standard software such as ProTools and Logic, mixing control surfaces for both studio and live sound reinforcement applications, Digital Audio Workstation (DAW), Livestream technologies and production, Commercial Music Theory, and Commercial Music Business. Also, provide direction and supervision for commercial student recording technology practicums and internships. Other courses and additional duties may be assigned predicated on the interests, qualifications, and experiences of the applicant as well as on the departmental needs.
This position requires an understanding of recording strategies for live and studio contexts within a variety of music styles including classical, commercial, and worship music. The ideal candidate will have experience performing in commercial-based ensembles (rhythm section, pop-rock ensembles, jazz ensembles, or worship bands). The candidate will be expected to perform in Faculty and University ensembles as directed.
Additional responsibilities encompass service to the department, university, and community along with appropriate scholarly activities.
Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in Commercial Music, Recording Arts, Recording Technology, Music Technology, Studio Production, or equivalent. Experience in: recording engineering and producing in studios and live venues, ProTools, Logic, Livestream technologies and production techniques, and digital audio workstation (DAW). This position requires: the ability to work in a team leadership setting; strong collaborative skills; ability to teach Recording Engineering Techniques, Producing concepts, and Commercial Music Business principles; skill in instrumental performance, preferably commercial piano, keyboard, or guitar. The ability to teach applied commercial instrumental lessons in piano, keyboard, or guitar is preferred. Ability to teach Commercial Music Theory and musicianship/aural skills courses a plus.
