Graduate Assistant - Athletic Trainer

Union University seeks a qualified individual for the position of Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer to serve in the Department of Athletics at Union University, a NCAA Division II member of the Gulf South Conference.

Union University is a private, coeducational liberal arts-based university offering bachelorís, masterís and doctoral degrees. The campus is located in Jackson, Tenn. (80 miles northeast of Memphis) with additional campuses in Germantown, Hendersonville, and Memphis, Tenn. Position Description:

This position is a ten-month (August Ė May) appointment and provides a competitive compensation package which includes 18 credit hours tuition waiver for graduate degree classes and a stipend (over 10 months) provided by the university. The Graduate Assistant reports to the Head Athletic Trainer.  Duties include:  

  • Provide athletic training services for intercollegiate sports, as well as athletic training clinic hours.

  • Assist with the planning, organization, coordination, and management of proper healthcare to Division II intercollegiate student-athletes.

  • Assist with the overall operations of the athletic training facilities; and complete duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelorís degree in athletic training from a CAATE Accredited program and Athletic Training Certification by the Board of Certification is required. Eligibility for licensure in the State of Tennessee and current certifications in First Aid, CPR and AED for the Professional Rescuer (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) are also required.
