Faculty in New Testament

Union University seeks a qualified individual for a full-time, tenure-track faculty in New Testament within the School of Theology and Missions (STM) beginning Fall 2021. Rank assignment commensurate with education and experience.

Union University is a private, coeducational liberal arts-based university offering bachelorís, masterís and doctoral degrees. The campus is located in Jackson, Tenn. (80 miles northeast of Memphis) with additional campuses in Germantown, Hendersonville, and Memphis, Tenn. Position Description:

Teach Bible survey courses, upper-level courses in New Testament, and biblical Greek (the teaching load is 24 credit hours per year). Pursue New Testament scholarship that meets high academic standards and serves the church. Other assignments include student advising, recruitment help, and committee service. Additional duties as assigned by the dean of the STM. 

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college, university, or seminary with a PhD in New Testament or related field.  Late-stage ABD candidates may be considered in exceptional cases. Preference will be given to applicants who also hold the MDiv degree.Effective teaching experience, collegiality, scholarly production, and local church involvement are important.  

Faculty members in the School of Theology & Missions must be active members of local Southern Baptist churches. 

Successful candidates must be professing Christians who are active members of a local church, enthusiastically support Union Universityís Identity, Mission, and Core Values, and articulate a Christian worldview in their work and life.
